Mission & Values
Communiqué is an independent nonprofit media project, run by diverse members and in collaboration with several partners. Based in Brussels and built to support social movements and people's struggles intentionally.
Communiqué's mission is to provide actionable resources for social movements, provide material support and training to independent journalists, and produce critical reporting and research in the public interest.
Communiqué's political project seeks to contribute to the world historical project of scientific socialism. Paraphrasing Marx: to "not just interpret the world but also to change it." We follow in the tradition of Dialectical and Historical Materialism as the guiding methodology for developing our work and praxis of transforming society.
Our Members
Our members are made up of media professionals, organisers, academics, and militants from across civil society who are committed to the education and emancipation of local and international working people in the struggle against capitalism and the primary contradiction of Western imperialism.
Communiqué supports and seeks to explain existing socialisms as well as present and explain the historic struggles for national liberation and sovereignty worldwide.
Our Commitment
As human and non-human life faces an existential threat with the violent decline of US empire, combined with the prospect of total climate collapse without revolutionary system change, the stakes of this work have never been higher, nor the sites of this struggle as pronounced and deadly.
Communiqué is committed to building a united front in this effort — against war, against exploitation, and against oppression.
Our Story
The formation of Communiqué comes at a time of great urgency and social violence. Founded in the summer of 2025 and launching in the summer of 2026, Communiqué is established to provide actionable media. What we mean by this is that we believe media should be not only educative and inform the public on stories of interest, but also contribute to greater collective action. We reject the idea of the division of social theory and practice into separate categories and see our work contributing to both a theoretical and practical application of a broader political vision.
The name Communiqué was chosen to reflect the too-often passive nature of mainstream media — a consumer product whose purpose is to pacify your attention and produce a learned sense of hopelessness. Instead, we send you directly our press release (communiqué) that acknowledges that our audience are agents of their own history and offers them the tools and resources to build a better world.
